There has been an outburst of ai-generated content out there and it goes a long way to confirm what they say about the human race going into extinction in no time. Some tools can help you detect ai-generated content, however, they can only do so much. The best and most reliable AI detector tool is you, a human being. I am not trying to downplay the good sides of some of these AI writing tools, but as far as writing content goes, it has become a norm among content writers and has triggered the attention of Google, the top search engine.
If you’re wondering what this has got to do with Google, I’ll tell you. Google immediately became the top search engine over Bing, Yahoo, Yandex Search, etc, because of its ability to deliver accurate information. More importantly, Google is concerned about the consumers of its content (readers) and is committed to delivering content that satisfies their intent completely.
For this reason, Google has taken extreme measures to penalize, if not completely take down any website or Blog that doesn’t satisfy the readers with its content, which it believes to an extent that AI-generated contents don’t. If you don’t want your content or website to be affected, use the following ai-detector tools to check every content before getting them published.
Oh and this right here is one hundred percent human-generated, just in case you were wondering

Key Points:
- Even though there are tools to detect AI-generated content, humans are still the best and most reliable because they can notice subtle differences and authenticity in writing.
- Google prefers original, high-quality content and penalizes sites with AI-generated content that doesn’t meet readers’ needs, showing the importance of human-written content.
- AI content often sounds unnatural, lacks a personal touch, and repeats phrases. It doesn’t show the depth and connection that human writers can provide.
- Tools like Writer.com, GPTZero, and Originality.ai help detect AI content but aren’t perfect. They can sometimes mistakenly label human-written content as AI-generated.
- Bloggers and content creators should use AI detection tools to ensure their content is original, especially when working with freelancers. Tools like Originality.ai and CopyLeaks are recommended for their accuracy and extra features.
How to Detect AI-Generated Content
Remember I said earlier that the best and most reliable AI-detector tool is you, a human being. Also, I hope you are aware that artificial intelligence, though not entirely robotics, is how systems emulate human minds—emphasis on the word emulate, which means to copy. Since artificial intelligence copies the human mind, then it means the human mind is not just original but authentic, hence why it is called ‘artificial.’ AI- AI-generated contents sound unnatural.
I’d love to go further to tell you what ‘artificial means, too, but I feel like I’ll be boring you and I don’t want to do that because I’m human. When reading any content and don’t connect with the writer or at least feel like the writer is trying to connect with you in one way or the other, it is safe to conclude that the content in question is ai-generated.
There was an outburst on Twitter (X) some months back on this matter. I read that some English words have been considered ai-generated and if seen in any article, it will be taken down. When I checked out the comments, many people were raging against such a development because let’s be honest, these words have been in existence long before the invention of AI, yet one could get penalized for using the word “Imagine” instead of using “For example”? There’s got to be a better way to detect ai-generated content!
As a human being, here are a few to check when trying to detect ai-generated content
#1. Accuracy of Information
Although AI writing can look well-written, however, it’s always important to check how accurate the actual information is. What I have come to realize about writing tools is that most of them are built on limited data sets and sources, and as a result, they may not have access to current and correct information.
One time I was writing an article on “Companies that went public in 2014 and asked a certain writing tool to give me a list of 12 companies that had their IPO in the said year. I wasn’t convinced by its response so I had to ask if those companies were real companies. The response I got was a “No.
What if I hadn’t gone further to confirm? I’ll leave that to your imagination
#2. Lack of Personality and Uniqueness
I said earlier that when reading an article and you don’t feel any sort of connection, it is best to judge the content as AI-generated. You see, artificial intelligence systems generate content with respect to patterns within their in-built data; they do not actually write. As a result, they don’t and can never relate to what they’re writing about in the same way you and I do as humans.
In other words, they lack personality and uniqueness, which is why the majority of texts seem unnatural and artificial rather than human. This leads to basic and short answers as well as a deficiency in critical thinking and in-depth topic analysis.
Unlike any AI tool, humans can have real conversations with experts in the field they’re writing about like I did while writing about companies that had their IPO. The conversation led to a clear understanding, interesting stories, and relatable opinions in a way that is impossible for AI tools to replicate.
#3. Words and Phrases Repetition
Checking the repetition of the same words and phrases is another means to detect ai-generated content. Artificial intelligence frequently employs the same words or phrases repeatedly. This most of the time is a result of the particular keyword used in prompting the AI, which it ends up repeating word after word. AI tools only use conservative language patterns, which can occasionally seem repetitive, because they are meant to be both neutral and cautious at the same time.
They can also lack context or just have limited and repetitive training information. Human writers create relevant content focusing on the objective, target audience, and desired tone. AI content, on the other hand, is often vague and does not focus on a specific audience.
See the checklist below:
I have just given you tips on how to detect ai-generated content using your human capacity. Notwithstanding, I’m going to also give you a list of the ai-detector tools by which you can detect AI-generated content in the following chapter
AI-Detector Tools
From my research, I can categorically tell you that none of these AI detectors out there can accurately detect AI-generate content. I have had cases where most of these tools would Qscore the content I had written myself as AI-generated. However, the six listed below have come close to being almost accurate

GPTZero offers the following features
- Perplexity-based AI detection: GPTZero analyzes the unpredictability of text using its perplexity score, with higher values indicating a human touch.

The tool is intended exclusively for content and SEO specialists who need to ensure that the content they publish is unique and free of plagiarism.
The tool does not have a free or ad-supported version since it employs natural language processing algorithms that need significantly more computational capacity. One of the standout features of Originality.ai is that it not only detects plagiarism and AI writing but also detects paraphrased content. Other features include
- It can predict AI writer text from tools like ChatGPT, GPT-4, GPT-3, GPT-2, GPT-NEO, GPT-J, or Quillbot.

#6. Crossplag
Another interesting AI detector tool that made my list is Crossplag, a multi-language plagiarism detector used by academics, bloggers, and content writers. It can take your text and use cross-referencing in all languages to search the internet for plagiarism.
I for one love the multilingual plagiarism checker because most bloggers would steal content and go ahead to translate it to a different language and publish it. With this feature, it makes it easy to identify such blogs and have them reported. When it comes to detecting and scoring AI-generated content Crossplag provides you with a confidence percentage that indicates the likelihood of the source being an AI, allowing you to make informed decisions regarding online content quality

What is an AI Content Detector?
An AI content detector is a tool that scans content to determine whether it’s human or AI-generated. From the article above, you can tell that some AI detectors are more accurate than others, though, their primary duty is to detect AI-generated content.
Should I Use an AI Content Detector?
Considering the rate at which technology like GPT4 is becoming a norm for writers, you should have one or all of the above AI detector tools mentioned in this piece, especially as a blogger for checking your work and that of freelancers.
Bottom Line: What is the Best AI Content Detector?
I still maintain that the best and most reliable AI detector tool is you. However, you can support your mind with the Originality.ai detector tool, which is the most accurate Chat GPT, Bard, Paraphrasing, and GPT-4 AI checker,” with a 99% AI content detection accuracy.
